About Pediatric Associates of Canon City - Serving the needs of Fremont County Area Families since 1990 Our Physician: Dr. Ellen McCormick is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has provided pediatric care in Canon City since 1995. When a child's illness requires hospital care Dr. McCormick is credentialed to admit to St. Thomas More Hospital, immediately next door. She is also available to provide prompt care and consultation to newborns in the Nursery, and to children who require pediatric consultation in the Emergency Department. Our Physician Assistant: Many families appreciate the special touch of an experienced and understanding Physician Assistant who can assist with both treatment of illnesses and parenting concerns. We are fortunate to have the services of Janet Krein, a certified Physician Assistant with many years of experience in pediatric care who also specializes in breast feeding. Janet is available to provide lactation consultation services for any nursing mother with questions, and to mothers of special-needs babies. Get Acquainted Visits: Your first wellness visit with the office could happen before your child is even born. We invite expectant parents to a prenatal "get acquainted" visit, available at no cost to discuss questions about care for your child after delivery or adoption. For parents pursuing an overseas adoption, we recommend you visit us to discuss medical questions before departing to pick up your child. Routine Health Care Visits: Typically, newborns are first seen at the office the day after hospital discharge, followed by a two-week Well Child check. Periodic Well Child checks continue throughout infancy and through grade school. Annual physicals and sports exams are recommended for teens. (See exam schedule on Appointments page.) We provide care to age 21. Immunizations: Immunizations are a cornerstone of your child's health care, and Pediatric Associates of Canon City provides the most comprehensive immunization service in the Fremont County Area. ALL recommended immnizations are available and may be administered at your child's appointment. In addition, these immunizations are recorded into Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS), a secure website available to doctors' offices throughout the state. Our nurses will also enter data from shot records you provide. This assures a complete permanent record that will never be lost, and a copy will be provided to you during your child's visit. Schools and day care providers appreciate these legible easy-to-read records. |
